Schwab Embraces Java; AlphaTrade Far Ahead

Vancouver BC - January 31, 2001 - A recent move into Java-based Internet trading systems by online juggernaut Charles Schwab (SCH: NYSE) validates AlphaTrade's (OTCBB: EBNK) decision two years ago to build a Java-based platform for online trading. In a Jan. 15 article in Internet Week*, Schwab said it will use BEA System's WebLogic Java application server and development tools to build new Internet trading systems.

"This is great news for us" said Gordon Muir, CEO of AlphaTrade.com. "We made this decision over two years ago and have already successfully launched our first suite of Java applications for the North American markets."

AlphaTrade's unique trading platform will stream line the users on-line experience and augment the brokers existing services for their clients. Once integrated into E-Gate™, AlphaTrade's marquis suite of applications, the platform will enable customers to trade from multiple accounts from any brokerage firm licensed with E-Gate™, from anywhere in the world and in the language of their choice. E-Gate™ currently provides customers with Level 2, streaming financial data in 18 languages.

"This type of endorsement from Schwab and other Fortune 500 companies contemplating or developing Java applications lends strength to AlphaTrade's previous management's decisions," Muir said. "Our decisions were more than just visions, they are the wave of the future."

With over $850 billion in assets, Schwab carries considerable weight as to the direction of industry standards in on-line trading.
