Alphatrade (APTD) $0.27. |

We were planning on leisurely putting out a piece on Alphatrade (APTD) this weekend and then it suddenly took a small hit out of the blue. We could be wrong, but this looks like a good entry point. http://www.alphatradefn.com/quotes/?s=aptd It looks, as if someone wanted out of a rather small block, in a hurry -- on a quiet Friday. So where do we start. Oh we know, let's go the "product testimonial" route, since we just reached another important milestone in our use of Alphatrade's Stock Quotation service. We now find it indispensable ! No joke, no exaggeration. Indispensable, we say ! Funny -- it started with us "forcing" ourselves to use it once a day....(since they are a client and we felt we needed to "know" the "Alphatrade experience".. before recommending it)... To using it a couple times a day... To liking it, to loving it... To going out and buying a new computer two days ago (a HP dv8000 with a 17 inch ultra bright WXGA wide screen display) dedicated to it ALONE, so we could really enjoy it on the big, clear screen... To putting it in the other room... to stop us from staring at it all day long and not getting anything else done ! So it can be indefensible AND addictive. Kind of like smoking. Just try the trial for a few weeks...we're telling ya ! http://www.alphatrade.com/subscribe.php So anyway, back to business issues. This article (below) just came out at CBS MarketWatch talking about advertising in financial sites. While Alphatrade does not have the mega-numbers mentioned below, they in our opinion -- have much, much better demographics and have a much, much better delivery method of advertising. We would describe their ad "delivery" method (working with the same individual target) as putting something in his lap versus putting a newspaper on his desk -- with an ad buried on page 73 in section 3. You would understand this if you sign up for the trial. Also they, in our opinion, don't "need" to have 8 million unique visitors to make everyone real, real happy. Here's our favorite quote: "Finance sites are attractive to advertisers as they tend to represent a pretty good demographic," said Brian McAndrews, CEO of Aquantive, an Internet advertising company. "It of course depends on the quality of the site, but it stands to reason that people who spend time reading about money and stocks, etc, probably have some money to invest (or spend)," McAndrews said. We couldn't have said it better....well, actually we could. |
