================================================== Alphatrade(APTD) $0.32 up 18% on News. From Knobias.com 37.04% above its 20day Moving Average of $0.234 39.37% above its 50day Moving Average of $0.230 59.90% above its 100day Moving Average of $0.200 This sort of trading behavior of course, sets off all sorts of "buy" signals from the technical crowd. Bar Chart.com says 100% buy. (that's 13 buy signals) http://quote.barchart.com/texpert.asp?sym=APTD StockTA.com says: Bullish overall, Bullish short-term, Bullish intermediate term and Neutral long-term. http://tinyurl.com/37gr7u (By the way, those guys are NOT on our payroll. That's the one nice thing about the technical services, you can't pay them to say nice things. It is what it is. Though that won't necessarily spare you from losing money.) Anyway, we were just thinking... now that we have three clearly defined revenue sources (okay two clearly) from Alphatrade -- and that we should name them, to keep the "big picture" continuously in mind and remind everyone that they have three (okay, two) clearly defined revenue sources. And then of course to follow how these three various revenue sources are doing. During the fiscal year ended December 31, 2006, Alphatrade saw revenue increase every single quarter. Total revenues for fiscal 2006 were $4,395,996 which was a 45% increase over fiscal 2005 sales of $3,019,881. The three sources would be:1. Alphatrade Quote Services. 2. Alphatrade Financial Network. (AlphatradeFN) 3. Alphatrade Sport Network. (AlphatradeSN) 1. Alphatrade Quote Services. In this division, the company generates revenues from a proprietary stock quote service, which was developed between 1999 and 2002. It cost millions to build the system. Revenues are derived in the form of subscriptions. It's a great, but moderate growth business. Sales increased by 10% to $2,817,955 last year. 2. Alphatrade Financial Network. This is their "no brainer" division and is what interested us in the company in the first place. They "own" the media outlet and thus they "own" the subscribers (vs. having to pay for either). And as we've mentioned in the past, due to the quality of this stock quotation service -- they attract some of the most qualified (aka: rich and powerful) users of any financial site we know of. To get to the point, a light bulb went off in 2006 and they said to themselves, "Self, maybe we should be delivering ads to our loyal subscribers and maybe publicly traded companies would like to gain the attention of these wealthy subscribers and maybe they would pay us to do so." ...and so advertising revenues jumped from $444,300 in 2005 to $1,500,556 in 2006, an increase of 237%. It turns out it was a very good idea after all. Remember, we're not talking "bigger is better" here. We have a lot of friends in the "business" such as stockbrokers and hedge fund managers who swear by Alphatrade's quote tools and we can assure you -- they don't use Yahoo's quote services -- regardless if they are free (unlike us). These subscribers are also concerned (some might say obsessed) with minute-by-minute stock prices and "Level Two" real-time quotes, so they need this service and they come back to use it again and again. 3. Alphatrade Sport Network. This is the newest kid on the block for Alphatrade and the latest "lightbulb" type idea. At this very second, we do not know if the Sports Network has the same potential as the Financial Network or 10 times the potential -- or 100 times the potential. It is all interrelated, but it has its own standalone revenue model -- which at first glance, can be described as eye-brow raising. Sports Network: http://www.alphatrade.com/sports_marketing.php We don't have the nitty-gritty details, but it works something like this. Like the Financial Network, the Sports Network has a "captive audience." At AlphatradeFN, they are sitting in front of a computer screen. At AlphatradeSN, they are sitting in front of a sports event. At AlphatradeFN they can generate revenues when the "stock-fan" hits the quote button. At AlphatradeSN, they can generate revenues when the "sports-fan" hits the phone button. What they're actually doing at the stadium is sending a text-massage. We don't personally do text messaging, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to imagine the gross potential of making $0.99 (or whatever they charge) each time someone sends a text message. The basics we need to know is 1) why are they sending the text message (what motivates them), 2) how many people are at the sport stadium and 3) how long are they at the sports stadium, 4) how many sports stadiums Alphatrade is at and lastly 5) how many games are going to be played at all those stadiums. In our opinion, it all ads up to "eye-brow raising" potential. Do a Google search on how much "American Idol" has made, from people sitting in front of a TV screen sending text-messages. What ? Your too busy to do a google search ? Okay, we'll do it for you: First article says: ===== The fourth season of American Idol came to a close this week with Carrie Underwood being named the winner. While SMS is still largely unused in the US, American Idol viewers sent a record 41.5 million text messages during the last season. The popular Fox show solicites viewers to vote for their favorite contestents via telephone or SMS. Only Cingular customers could vote which makes the 41.5 million message total even more impressive. The third season had 13.5 million SMS votes (since it took place before the Cingular/AT&T Wireless merger, only AT&T Wireless customers could use the SMS voting system). And that was 2005 ! In 2006 the number hit 64.5 million text messages. That's a double eye-brow raise ! ===== Oh and this is interesting/educational, here is a company that handle the American Idol program: http://www.telescope.tv/index.php And they're owned by this company: http://www.hmg.tv/ ===== Oh and here's something on the text messaging from the WSJ http://online.wsj.com/article/SB115336109951711994.html?mod=technology_main_promo_left ===== Wow, check this out: Revenue from text messaging is not insignificant. Last summer, viewers sent over 500,000 text-message votes within two days during the reality show "Big Brother," which charged 49 cents a pop. In the spring season, NBC's game show "Deal or No Deal" earned enough money from premium text-messaging votes to cover the more than $1 million sweepstakes prize money. Viewers of the show cast a total of 57 million votes, both online and via text message. ... In the U.K., revenue from phone and text-messaging services for TV programs came to about $457 million in 2005, compared with almost zero in 2000, according to an industry-funded regulatory body that tracks premium telecom services in that country. http://www.textually.org/textually/archives/2006/07/012988.htm ===== And what the heck is this ? http://www.google.com/intl/en_us/mobile/sms/ We typed in "w 60302" and our weather came back. And then we typed in "Cubs" and it showed they beat the Astros 9 to 3. GO CUBS ! ===== This has gone from eye-brow raising to hair raising !!! Looks like Alphatrade may really be onto something. ================================================== Again, we don't have the answers to many of the basic things we need to know right now about the Sports Network, but the Company is obviously extremely confident in the Sport Network, which is demonstrated by the outlets they are paying to be in. This is not the little league were talking about here. This is the big time. In fact, these are some of the most valuable sports properties in the country, if not the world. Like the New York Mets. The others include: the Tampa Bay Devil Rays (www.devilrays.com), Kenny Bernstein Drag Racing Team (www.kennybernstein.com), Professional Bull Riders (www.pbrnow.com), Huntin' the World Southern Style (www.huntintheworld.com), and the American Drag Racing League (www.adrl.com). Of course this is not without risk. Some might even say considerable risk. The risk is somewhat definable -- in that they pay to be in these major sports venues and then have to turn around and sell enough ads (text-messages) to cover those costs and more to gain a profit, but that's what advertising networks are all about. And little companies don't grow into big companies, without taking risk ! Think of advertising billboards on highways all across the United States. You've got to pay to put up all the billboards and then you've got to turnaround and gather advertisers to advertise on your billboards. I guess the key here boils down to the simplest of things, which is a quality and aggressive sales force. Along those lines, on Friday, they announced they enlisted the help of Source Communications to help them sell ads. From the Source Communications website, we noticed they have worked with Nikon, 1-800-Flowers, Lexar Digital Media and Amtrack. Oh my. As of December 31, 2006, there were outstanding 36,750,025 shares of Common Stock giving ghe company a market value of a mere $12 million. ================================================== New Release: Press Release Source: AlphaTrade.com AlphaTrade.com Texts Source Communications: 'You Win!' We would like to point out that the majority of companies listed on the OTC Bulletin Board have factors which create an uncertainty about the their ability to continue as a going concern. These concerns are typically related to financing (or lack of), competitive environments, lack of operating history and operating at loss levels which is typical of most start-ups. These statement can usually be found in their most recent 10Q filings and typically you don't have to dig to far down past the financial tables. We like to use http://www.pinksheets.com for quick and easy access to SEC filings. We think it would be wise for most investors to assume that all companies listed on the OTC Bulletin Board (and many on NASDAQ) have going concern issues. ================================================ Disclaimer: Important Distinction #1. First and foremost the Watch List is just that. A watch list. It is not a buy list. Meaning that there will be no buys or sales issued by the Internet Stock Review. If this was a buy list, you can rest assured that we would crank up our Public Relations arm into high gear, full speed ahead and damn the torpedoes to make everyone know just how brilliant we were when we issued the list. Interviews on CNBC, articles in Barron's and accolades in the Wall Street Journal--the only thing we love more than money is praise and fame--but it just isn't going to happen. What the Internet Stock Review is...is a "news aggregation service". With the advent of the Internet, everyone knows what that term means. What it means to us is the following: We will follow the progress of as many Internet related publicly traded stocks as humanly possible (The large, the small and the minuscule) and advise you of when they have reported news. As a subscriber to the Internet Stock Review, this means you will be able to broadly follow the entire industry right from a single e-mail. We will report who released news and point (with hyper links) to where the news can be found. We try to use Yahoo! Finance as extensively as possible so we don't send you all over cyberspace. We love Yahoo, you will too. Any decisions as to buy or sell however, are strictly up to you. Which leads to important distinction #2. How do we get paid?
