To Add Symbol(s):

  1. Type the symbol(s) into the white box in the upper right corner of the portfolio. Separate multiple symbols with commas (,)
  2. Click the 'Add Symbol' button
OR
  1. Click the 'Portfolio' menu at the top of the portfolio window and select 'Add Symbols'
    OR
    Right-click in the middle of the Portfolio window and select 'Add Symbols' on the menu that appears
    OR
    Press Ctrl-S on your keyboard
  2. Type the symbol(s) into the 'Add Symbol' box that appears. Separate multiple symbols with commas (,)
  3. Click the 'OK' button

To Move a Symbol to a Different Position on your Portfolio (Drag and Drop):

  1. Left-click on the symbol you wish to move and hold the left mouse button down.
  2. Move your mouse to where you want the symbol to be.
  3. As you move your mouse, a white line will appear in between the symbols you mouse over.
  4. When you reach the spot you want the symbol to be, let go of the left mouse button.

To Put Symbols into a Subgroup with a Title:

  1. Click the 'Edit Groups' button above the column headers
    OR
    Click the 'Portfolio' menu at the top of the portfolio window and select 'Edit Groups'
    OR
    Press Ctrl-G on your keyboard
  2. Click the 'New' button on the right side of the 'Edit Groups' window
  3. Enter a group name and click 'OK'
  4. Select the group you wish to add symbols to in the list of available groups
  5. From the 'Available Symbols' list on the left, select a symbol and click the ' > ' button to add it to the group
  6. To change the order of symbols in the group, select the symbol in the 'Symbols In Group' list and click the 'Move Up' or 'Move Down' button on the right.
  7. To remove a symbol from the group, select the symbol in the 'Symbols In Group' list and click the ' < ' button
  8. Once you are done grouping symbols, click 'OK' to close the window
  9. To change the order of groups, select the group name in the Groups list and click the 'Move Up' or 'Move Down' button on the right.
Click here for a full size image Symbols in groups will appear indented on the portfolio, with the group name on its own line at the top. There is a down arrow next to the group name. Double-click that to hide the symbols in that group. The arrow then points to the group name. Double-click it again to show the symbols in that group.

To Remove a Symbol from the Portfolio:

  1. Left-click on the symbol in the portfolio that you wish to remove. Its symbol will appear next to 'Portfolio' in the menus at the top
  2. Click the 'Portfolio' menu at the top of the Portfolio.
  3. On the menu that appears, select Remove Symbol

OR
  1. Right-click the stock you wish to remove and select 'Remove <symbol>' from the menu that appears
  2. To remove all symbols from a portfolio, select 'Remove All' from the 'Portfolio' menu

To Add Columns to or Remove Columns from the Portfolio:

  1. Click the 'Portfolio' menu at the top of the Portfolio and select 'Edit Columns'
    OR
    Right-click on any column header and select 'Edit Columns' from the menu that appears
  2. To add a column, select the data field you want from the 'Available Items' list and click the ' > ' button to add it to the portfolio
  3. To remove a column, select the data field you wish to remove from the 'Selected Items' list and click the ' < ' button to remove it from the portfolio
  4. To change the order of the columns in the portfolio, select the data field you wish to move in the 'Selected Items' list and click the 'Move Up' or 'Move Down' button
  5. Click 'OK' to make your changes to the portfolio
  6. You can have as many or as few columns in the portfolio as you want

To Move a Column to a Different Position on your Portfolio (Drag and Drop):

  1. Left-click on the column header you wish to move and hold the left mouse button down.
  2. Move your mouse to where you want the column to be.
  3. As you move your mouse horizontally, a white line will appear in between the column headers you mouse over.
  4. When you reach the spot you want the column to be, let go of the left mouse button.

To Change What Value is in a Column on the Portfolio:

  1. Right-click on the column header you wish to change
  2. On the menu that appears, move your mouse to 'Change To'
  3. From the list of available data fields, select the one you want in that column.

To Sort Your Portfolio by a Specific Column:

  1. Click on the Column header. This will sort the portfolio in Ascending order.
  2. Click again to sort in Descending order.
  3. Click again to unsort. i.e. in user-defined order

To Add Cash to your Portfolio:

  1. Click the 'Portfolio' menu at the top of the Portfolio window and select 'Add Cash'
    OR
    Right-click in the middle of the portfolio and select 'Add Cash' on the menu that appears
    OR
    Press Ctrl-Shift-C on your keyboard
  2. Type in the amount of Cash you wish to add
  3. Select the currency the cash is in
  4. Click the 'OK' button

To Add Shares Owned:

  1. Click the 'Portfolio' menu at the top of the Portfolio window and select 'Add/Edit Investments'
    OR
    Right-click the stock you wish to add shares for and select 'Edit Investment' on the menu that appears
    OR
    Press Ctrl-I on your keyboard
  2. Select 'Buy' or 'Sell/Short' on the 'Investment Type' field
  3. Enter the symbol in the 'Symbol' field
  4. Enter the number of shares bought/sold in the '# of Shares' field
  5. Enter the price paid per share in the 'Price Per Share' field
  6. Enter the total commission paid in the 'Commission' field (optional)
  7. Enter 'Transaction Date' if different than the current date (auto display)
  8. Click the 'Add New' button to add it to the list of investments.
To Edit an Existing Investment:

  1. Select the investment you wish to edit on the list at the top of the 'Edit Investments' window
  2. Choose 'Direct Edit' from 'Operation Type'
  3. Make the changes you wish to make
  4. Click the 'Modify' button to apply the changes
  5. Click the 'OK' button to save the changes

To Remove an Existing Investment:

  1. Select the investment you wish to remove on the list
  2. Click the 'Remove' button to remove the investment from your portfolio
  3. Click 'Remove All' to remove all Investments from your portfolio

To Set an Alert on a Stock:

  1. Click the 'Portfolio' menu at the top of the portfolio and select 'Alerts'
    OR
    Right click on a stock in the portfolio and select 'Add <symbol> Alert'
    OR
    Press Ctrl-A on your keyboard
  2. In the Alerts window, type in the symbol you want an alert on
  3. Select the field you want the alert to be based on
  4. Enter a value for your alert (with greater than or less than if applicable)
  5. Select whether to deactivate the alert after it is reached or to keep the alert active
  6. Click 'Add' to add the alert to your list of alerts
  7. Click 'OK' to leave the alerts manager and apply your alerts to your portfolio

To Modify an Alert:

  1. Select the alert in the list of available alerts
  2. Make your changes
  3. Click 'Modify' on the right to apply the changes
  4. Click the 'OK' button

To Disable/Enable an Alert:

  1. Select the alert in the list of available alerts
  2. Click 'Disable' or 'Enable', depending on whether the alert is active or not
  3. Click the 'OK' button

To Print the Portfolio:

  1. Click the 'Portfolio' menu at the top of the portfolio and select 'Print'
    OR
    Press Ctrl-P on your keyboard
  2. A page containing the data of the portfolio will appear in a new browser window.
  3. Click the 'Print' button on the page or use the browser's print setup functions to format the page for printing.

To Export the Portfolio Data to a Spreadsheet:

  1. Click the 'Portfolio' menu at the top of the portfolio and select 'Export'
    OR
    Press Ctrl-E on your keyboard
  2. A File Download box will appear.
  3. Click 'Save' and choose a location to save the file.
  4. The file will be saved as a Comma Separated Values (CSV) file, which is openable in most spreadsheet programs such as MS Excel.

To Edit the Properties of the Current Portfolio:

  1. Click the 'Portfolio' menu at the top of the portfolio and select 'Properties'
    OR
    Press Ctrl-O on your keyboard
  2. You can change the name of the portfolio, the currency your investments are valued in, what the Market Value of your investments is calculated on, the colour and font size and other properties
  3. Click 'OK' to apply your changes

To View a Chart, Level 2, Time and Sales or News for a Stock:

  1. Right-click on the symbol you want and move your mouse to '<symbol> Tools'
  2. Select 'Chart', 'Level 2', 'TS&Q (choose Streaming or Historical)' or 'News (choose Current, Historical or MidnightTrader)'

OR
  1. Click to highlight the symbol you want
  2. Use the following keyboard shortcuts
    Ctrl-C: Chart
    Ctrl-L: Level 2
    Ctrl-T: Streamed TS&Q
    Ctrl-Shift-T: Historical TS&Q
    Ctrl-N: Current News
    Ctrl-Shift-N: Historical News
    Ctrl-M: MidnightTrader

To View Comments on Various Message Boards about Specific Stocks:

  1. Right-click the stock you want to see message board comments for
  2. Go to 'Message Boards'
  3. From the submenu pick which message board you want

To Switch to Another Portfolio:

  1. Click the drop-down arrow next to 'Portfolio Name' at the top of the Portfolio
  2. On the list that appears, select the portfolio you wish to switch to

  2. On the submenu that appears, select the portfolio you wish to switch to
